I’m a member of a really great blog network called b5media with another blog that I write. Most people familiar with the world of blogging (moreso, blogging for money) are familiar with b5media and blogging networks in general (there are a few), but in case you aren’t, here’s the bottom line:

  1. You locate and apply for the job. ProBlogger has a great resource for this, to help you find the right blog to apply to. (Make sure it’s something you’re not only “interested in”, but PASSIONATE about. I’m darn near obsessive about my topic, and it makes it easy to find things to write about.
  2. You submit writing samples, get accepted into the network, and sign a contract.
  3. Blog network manages design, hosting, network issues, servers, and ad campaigns for you.
  4. You meet/exceed minimum posting requirements. You also work on ways to drive traffic to your new blog, which the blog network will help you with ideas for doing so.
  5. You get paid. Typically you get a standard monthly rate plus a rate based on pageviews.

Right now, with only one blog as a member of a network, I’m not making a killing. I am, however, having a fantastic time, have made a ton of great friendships, and am making enough to take care of at least one of my monthly recurring bills. As time goes on, and the blog grows in readership and traffic, and as part of the contract, I’ll be making more than enough to pay two or three of those monthly recurring bills. This, my folks, makes me a very happy girl. :)
