Couponing Terms & Abbreviations
Here is a list of the main couponing terms and abbreviations. It may seem like a lot, but you will actually learn them quite quickly if you start doing fabulous deals like a Shopping Goddess!
BLINKIES = In-store SmartSource coupons near product, from a little red blinking box
BOGO or B1G1F or B1G1 Free = Buy One Get One Free
CAT or CATALINA = coupon dispensed at register after purchase
CRT = Cash register tape
DND = Do Not Double
DOUBLE COUPON = coupon that a grocery store doubles in value
ECB = CVS Extra Care Bucks
FAR = Free After Rebate
GDA = Good Deal Alert
HBA = The health and beauty aid section in the grocery store
IPQ = Internet Printable Coupon
MQ = Manufacturer’s Coupon
MIR = Mail In Rebate
OOP = Out of Pocket
OYNO = On your next order
P&G = Proctor & Gamble Coupon Insert found in the Sunday Newspaper
PEELIE = Coupon that you peel off the package
Q = Coupon
RP = Red Plum Coupon Insert found in the Sunday Newspaper
SS = Smart Source Coupon Insert found in the Sunday Newspaper
STACKING = Using a store specific coupon with a MQ coupon (most stores allow this)
TEARPAD = A pad of refund forms or coupons found hanging from a store shelf or display
TMF = Try Me Free
WYB = When You Buy
YMMV = Your Mileage May Vary = Success of the attempt may vary at your store
Coupons in Deal Posts
When I post deals for stores I will be giving the coupon location in this format:
Date then Insert Type.
For example: 2/26 RP = February 26th Red Plum insert
So, if I post this deal:
Pantene Shampoo: $2.99 – $1 Q 2/26 RP = $1.99
That means you can find the coupon for $1 off Pantene in the February 26th Red Plum Coupons, making the shampoo $1.99.
Coupons do vary by location. I might get a $1/1 Pantene and you might get $1/2 if you are in a different area.
